Documents Required for Overseas Gulf Employment
Avoid visa stamping rejections and delays. Review the exact document and attestation requirements needed for Indian workers migrating to the GCC.
1. Passport & Identity Credentials
- ✓ Original Indian Passport with minimum 8–12 months remaining validity
- ✓ Passport must contain at least 2–4 blank observation/visa pages
- ✓ Color scans of first, last, and observation pages
- ✓ Aadhaar Card (linked with active mobile number for verification)
- ✓ 10 to 12 recent passport-size photos with clean white background (4x6 cm)
2. Educational & Vocational Certificates
- ✓ 10th Standard / Matriculation Marksheet & Passing Certificate
- ✓ ITI National Trade Certificate (NTC) or Polytechnic Diploma
- ✓ Degree Certificates (B.Com, B.Sc, B.E./B.Tech) for white-collar/engineering roles
- ✓ Nursing Council Registration & Transcript for healthcare candidates
- ✓ State HRD / Education Department Attestation & MEA Apostille (for professional roles)
3. Technical Credentials & Experience Letters
- ✓ Experience Letters from previous Indian or overseas employers on official company letterheads
- ✓ Trade Skill Certifications (Saudi SVP Certificate, AWS welding card, etc.)
- ✓ Safety Certifications (NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, First Aid) for HSE profiles
- ✓ Previous Gulf Visa Copies or GCC Resident ID cards (for Gulf Return candidates)
4. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
- ✓ Mandatory for Saudi Arabia and Kuwait work visas
- ✓ Must be issued by the Regional Passport Office (RPO) through the official Passport Seva portal
- ✓ Local police station character certificates are generally NOT accepted by Gulf embassies
- ✓ Validity is typically 6 months from the date of issue
Understanding Certificate Attestation Stages
For technical and white-collar roles requiring degree or diploma verification, documents typically pass through three consecutive stages:
- State Level: Notary verification followed by State Home Department or Human Resource Development (HRD) authentication.
- Central Level: Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India attestation or Apostille sticker.
- Embassy Level: Stamping by the destination country's Embassy or Consulate in New Delhi or Mumbai (e.g. Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia).
