What is the Wafid (GAMCA) Examination?
Under the GCC Health Council (GHC), all workers departing from India to UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain must undergo a standardized health assessment at an officially accredited medical center. The centralized platform, known as Wafid (formerly GAMCA), randomly assigns candidate appointments across certified clinics in major Indian cities including Mumbai.
What Tests Are Conducted?
🔬 Blood & Serology Screenings
- • HIV 1 & 2 Antibodies (Non-reactive required)
- • Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg)
- • Hepatitis C Virus Antibodies (Anti-HCV)
- • VDRL / RPR Syphilis Screen
- • Complete Blood Count (CBC) & Fasting Blood Sugar
🩻 Chest X-Ray & Physical
- • Posterior-Anterior Chest Radiograph (X-Ray)
- • Check for old TB scars, fibrosis, or lung lesions
- • Blood Pressure (hypertension check)
- • Snellen Chart Visual Acuity & Color Blindness
- • General physical examination for hernias & surgery
Essential Preparation Tips Before Your Test in Mumbai
- ✓ Fasting / Light Dinner: Eat a light, oil-free dinner before your test date to keep blood glucose and cholesterol in normal range.
- ✓ Stay Well Hydrated: Drink plenty of clean water 24 hours prior to prevent high specific gravity in urine tests.
- ✓ Avoid Alcohol & Smoking: Absolutely abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and tobacco products for at least 72 hours.
- ✓ Declare Existing Prescriptions: If you take prescription medicines for blood pressure or asthma, bring your valid doctor's prescription.
The Visa Stamping Phase
Once your GAMCA medical report is declared "FIT" on the Wafid online portal, your medical clearance is transmitted electronically to the destination country embassy.
• Saudi Arabia: The visa slip is submitted along with PCC, GAMCA fit slip, and trade SVP certificate to the Saudi Consulate in Mumbai for visa endorsement.
• Qatar: Medical, biometric capture, and employment contract signing are integrated directly through Qatar Visa Centers (QVC).
• UAE: Electronic Employment Entry Permits are issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) / ICP.
